Although the 412 acre Banning Ranch would be a valuable park and preserve in it own right, one of the most compelling reasons for preservation is that it is adjacent to nearly 1,000 acres of existing public open space--shown in green above.
Banning Ranch habitats compliment Orange Coast River Park habitats and some of the wetland and estuary habitats depend on ecosystems that require preservation of habitats currently within Banning Ranch.
Banning Ranch also lies between Sunset Ridge Park created by SB 124 and the remainder of Orange Coast River Park.
